Loofa Lassie offers organic Mississippi-grown loofa sponges for sale. The loofas may be picked up at Gallery 220 in Bay St Louis, or shipped to you. A loofa is a fibrous plant seed pod related to cucumbers and squash. The pollinated flowers grow cylindrical green fruits that eventually develop into a seed pod filled with many intertwined plant cellulose fibers. The skin is removed to reveal the "loofa" inside. These natural cellulose fiber sponge wonders of the vegetable world have many uses. They can exfoliate the loose cells from your skin and make your skin squeaky clean, leaving your skin feeling the cleanest and tightest it could possibly be.  Scrubbing your back with a loofa sponge in the bath or shower is an incredibly pleasurable experience. Luffa sponges are also great for washing items like large pots and other containers and can be used to clean many things that need to be scrubbed but can not tolerate steel wool, including cars, boats and non-stick cookware. New unused loofa fiber can be stored for years if kept dry and covered where dust won't settle on the surface. Working loofa sponges will last a surprisingly long time if they are allowed to dry between uses.  Hanging them on a hook or placing on end may help your loofa to dry.
